About Me - DRM Mental Health

My name is Davis Melendez. I completed his MSW at New York University with a concentration on Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) and psychodynamic approaches.

I worked in New York Metro Area for 5 years and New Jersey for several others before relocating to San Diego, where I focused on providing services to diverse communities which included LGBTQAI+, Spanish and Portuguese speakers’ immigrants, asylum seekers, Domestic Violence Victims and Batterers, HIV+ and partners, and chronically mentally ill populations.

I also hold a Masters in Spanish/Latin American Studies, and am in the process of receiving my doctorate.

I am a firm believer that everything is interconnected, and each individual carries stories to be told, witnessed and resolved. Clinical approaches include

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Psychodrama
  • Psychoanalysis
  • Humanistic Approach

I am also an Accredited Playback Theatre Trainer (APTT) and consultant in community-based and corporate organizations.

Remote Therapy via Telehealth

Although located in San Diego, My practice has become a 100% fully remote therapist using Telehealth to meet with clients. I made this decision for several reasons. First, I found that, despite their reservations, patients were more open and comfortable with being vulnerable when receiving treatment in their own home. Second, many of my patients benefit from the discretion that Telehealth provides. Finally, I want you to have access to a therapist no matter where you are located, and remote therapy means that you can seek support even if you are in a rural or remote area of the state. I am licensed to see patients in California, New Jersey, New York, and Delaware.
